Undersdtanding the LMD, system
Since the 2004 school year, the USTHB has applied the universal L.M.D system:
Masters (Bac+5)
Doctorate (Bac+8)
System Architecture
The LMD system is comprised of three training cycles:
A cycle organized in 6 semesters leading to the Lisence degree
A second cycle organized in 4 semesters leading to the Master's degree
A three-year third cycle leading to the doctorate degree.
The advantages of the LMD system:
1. Organization of lessons :
Training is offered in {{Field}} – branch – specialty
The courses are grouped into Training Fields.
A field covers several disciplines.
The organization of training is carried out in semesters and teaching units (E.U.). Each teaching unit has a defined value in credits proportional to the work (courses, tutorial classes, lab work, internships, etc.)
2. Measures of teaching:
Education and training are measured in credits, not in study years.
The degree is divided into semesters; To validate a semester, 30 credits are required. - 180 to obtain the License (For 6 semesters). -120 credits to obtain the Master's degree (For 4 semesters).
Compensation is maintained: students who do not have the average for one or more UEs will still be able to validate their semester if they have the average for all the UEs.
