Welcome to Algiers

Algiers, the city of Hammadites, Nicknamed El-Bahdja or Alger la Blanche ("Algiers the White") for the glistening white of its buildings as seen rising up from the sea, it is situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea, it is the capital and the largest city of Algeria. The skyline is dominated by 92 meter high Martyr's Memorial, which celebrates the liberation from colonialism. Algiers has a population of about four million ant it is known for its "Casbah" or "citadel" that is an outstanding example of a historic Maghreb city having had extensive influence on town-planning in the western part of the Mediterranean and sub-Saharan Africa.

How to come to Algiers?

By Plane:

Houari Boumediene Airport is located 20 km from the center of Algiers, the airport was completely renovated in 2007 and is currently one of the largest and most modern airports in Africa. You can go to Algiers from most major European cities. The list of international airlines serving Algiers Aigle Azur, Air Berlin, Air France, Air Méditerranée, Alitalia, British Airways, EgyptAir, Iberia, Jetairfly, Libyan Airlines, Lufthansa, Middle East Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Morocco, Saudi Arabian Airlines,Syrian Arab Airlines, TAP Portugal, Tunisair, Turkish Airlines. Air Algeria dessert daily European cities including the capital Beijing China. It also serves major cities in Algeria (Oran, Constantine, Annaba, Tamanrasset, Skikda, ...).
The Algiers airport is connected to major African capitals like Cairo, Bamako, Abidjan, Dakar and Tunis. Taxis are available outside the hall 2, beware there is no meter; you have to arrange the price with the taxieur (usually less than 600 dinars). The trip to Algiers Center takes about 20 minutes.The bus runs every 30 minutes, the cost is 25 dinars.

 By Train:

The Train Station of Algiers is located near the city center. Algiers is connected daily by train to major Algerian cities such as Constantine, Oran, Annaba, and Tlemcen. The only International connection is Tunis: Tunis-Algiers line.

By Bus:

Algiers Bus Station is located in the town of Hussein Dey 10 minutes from the city center. The bus station serves a large number of Algerian cities. Using the bus is not expensive and very popular among Algerians. Most buses are modern and air-conditioned.

By Boat:

You can go by boat to Algiers from the ports of Alicante, Marseille, Nice and Barcelona.

By car:

All roads lead to Algiers! The Algerian road network is one of the largest in Africa and you'll have no trouble moving safely with your car.
